Berlin’s Hotel Hansablick is bright, light and colorful, with paintings galore and light wooden floors. And it won’t take too much out of your holiday budget, either. For a budget hotel, it’s kind of upscale, and even has a small fitness room with a personal trainer available on demand. And even free internet access (though not Wifi, yet). Hotel Hansablick is in a hundred-year-old building (but the furnishings don’t exactly date from this time—more from the Ikea-age, perhaps), in a good location near the Berlin Zoo. You can walk to the Brandenburg Gate or for a shopping spree on the Ku-damm from here, too. We’re not talking youth hostel prices, but a very good middle-of-the-road deal that will give you the freedom to stay longer in Berlin (you’ll want to: it’s a city where you’ll never stop discovering new things to do). Small double rooms start from 75 Euros per night ($100), with the large double rooms costing up to 145 Euros ($195) in peak season.
