“We’d heard in the past that Berlin’s Arcotel Velvet might not be as “sleek or cool” as other posh properties in the city, but another reader recommended it for our recent list of the city’s funky hotels. The Arcotel Velvet’s location is hard to beat, as it sits in the Mitte area adjacent to both the thriving nightlife and restaurant scene of Oranienburger Strasse and the galleries of Augustrasse. The place is funky verging on goofy, but rooms are spacious and comfortable with huge windows. And yes, there are complimentary apples. Rooms start at €125 per night.”
